Jaufré
Darroux studied the harp in the "Schola Cantorum" school of music
in Paris. He decided then to play Celtic and South-American traditional repertoires
and afterwards turned to jazz and oriental music (from India and middle-East).
His first CD "Voices of Thula" was released by Tursa (London) in 2000.
As well as he has played in many concerts and storyteller's shows in France
and Germany, he's been working since 1995, for the "Conservatoire National
de Musique de Région de Seine Saint Denis", and since 1999 with
the storyteller Sowila Taïbi in the Theatre compagny "Skald".
Jaufré Darroux is a composer, a performer and an improviser. At the moment
he plays in his new band called "Imram", mingling Celtic music and
classical Ottoman music.
